Local Species : The river and estuary offers excellent opportunities to view many of the waterfowl species that can be found on the Island. It is much less industrialised than the Medina, with far less river-way traffic.

This means that there are fewer disturbances, so quite often the more secretive species can be found enjoying the peaceful serenity around and about the area. The nearby woods and fields offer cover to numerous small birds and raptors; the key species you may be lucky enough to see here are: the Kingfisher, Grey Heron, Little Egret, Oystercatcher, Curlew, Wigeon, Brent Goose, Common Redshank, Buzzard, Kestrel, and the majestic Barn Owl.
